Some people call it landscaping, we like to call it building OUTDOOR ROOMS – build it and they will come is our motto! Planning and building outdoor spaces is as necessary as doing the same for indoor spaces to create function and beauty.
We are Richard and Melissa Taylor, husband and wife team who own and operate TaylorScapes. Both Landscape Architecture graduates from LSU with 20 plus years in the green industry. Richard also has 12 years’ experience as a Golf Course Superintendent and Turf Grass Specialist.

An important part of TaylorScapes design and build process is to help you visualize the best Outdoor Room to meet your specific needs. Determining a program of activities, sketching, and planning are all part of a successful plan.
Plans do evolve and changes are made easier with a pencil on paper than with a shovel in soil! A well-developed plan is key to good communication and thorough understanding of materials needed. A Plan also enables homeowners to phase installation into budgeted portions that, once complete, will achieve an overall beautiful, useful space.

The First step of any project is visiting the home or project site. We take pictures & measurements, walk around, and talk to the homeowner.
We then take the information to the drawing board, creating sketches and drawings of our ideas.
Each project will vary in the number of sketches and plans, depending on the complexity. Here, we created a planting plan to show the homeowner and discuss our ideas.
This particular project required structural change, so we drew sketches to help the homeowner visualize what the finished product would be.
After lots of hard work and coordination with the homeowners, the end product was certainly worth the effort!
